&Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve
The Phinda Private Game Reserve, Mountain Lodge is located next to the St Lucia Wetland Park in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. At Phinda, 29,866 hectares of farming land was reclaimed for wildlife, including 790 hectares of critically endangered ancient sand forest. Cheetah, rhino and pangolin are actively protected. Along with Africa Foundation, the reserve works closely with neighbouring communities, employing locally and investing in community education and welfare.
Mountain Lodge
We stayed at Mountain Lodge 12-15 November 2023. We landed at Phinda airstrip at 14h40. We were greated by our ranger Emma and our tracker. We were driven to Mountain Lodge. We were greated by the staff. We had lunch. At 16h00 there was high tea, which we skipped, followed by our first game drive. There was intermittent rain. We put ponchos on. We saw buffalo and a range of antelope. We didn’t take any photographs.
