Phill & Steve
Drive 3
We had our third Phinda game drive from Zuka Lodge on the afternoon of 16 February with Jenna and Musa.
Zuka Lodge
Bob the hippo was putting on a display in the Zuka Lodge water hole.
White Rhinoceros
Some white rhino were being being kept in captivity for their horns. Rhino horn can sell for up to $17,000 per kilogram on the black market. This is obscene as the horns are just compressed hair and have no therapeutic value. Phinda have taken in some of these captive rhino and are rehabilitating them into the wild. They cut off their horns to make them useless to poachers.
Cheetah
We went looking for a female cheetah. We found the remains of an impala which she had killed. We didn’t find her.
